Frequently asked questions
What building work do you take on?
Crut Construction takes on house extensions, loft conversions, refurbishments, basement conversions, new builds, and kitchens and bathrooms. The work is for homes and for commercial spaces.
Where do you work?
The area covers west London, including Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Richmond upon Thames, and Barnet. It also covers Watford, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Three Rivers, and Hertsmere.
How do I start?
Send a few details through the contact form. Say what the building is, what you want done, and where it is. We will come back to you.
What does the first visit cover?
The first visit is a look at the building. We note the structure, the access, and how you want the space to work. That visit shapes the written brief.
Do I need planning permission for an extension?
Some extensions need planning permission. Others can fall under permitted development. It depends on the size, the height, the boundary, and whether the house has already been extended. We look at the house before anyone treats one route as certain. This is not legal advice.
Do loft conversions need building regulations?
A loft conversion has to meet building regulations. That covers structure, stairs, fire safety, and insulation. Planning permission is a separate question and depends on the roof and the street.
What changes the length of a job?
The length follows the scope, the access, whether approvals are needed, and how long materials take to arrive. A written programme sets the order. We do not name a fixed number of weeks before the brief is agreed.
Do you take commercial work?
Yes. Commercial jobs sit alongside homes. The same brief, site visit, and written scope apply, with the use of the building taken into account.
